My Grand Cherokee that I bought a year ago as a cheap winter vehicle !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . It has served me well, but because of the cost of the work it needs, which includes an oil pan, serpentine belt, idle air control valve, front diff pinion seal, and door seals, I'm looking at other stuff.
This Infiniti QX4 is an '01 with 90k-ish miles on it and Michelin LTX M/S tires, which are pretty much the best all-season truck tires for the snow. I tried to look at it last week, but it's at this rinky dink little used car dealer that had it parked in by other vehicles and I didn't really have time for them to play Car Jenga trying to extract it. I got to sit in it and turn it on, but that's it.
Upsides to the QX4:
Has all the best Nissan Pathfinder goodies since it's a gussied-up Pathfinder, including full-time 4wd and the VQ V6 making 240 hp.
Asking price is $6300, and I'm pretty sure they'll come down on it.
Only 90k miles, compared to 146k on my Jeep.
Dem 3-spoke wheels, with Michelin LTX M/S tires.
HID headlamps, which weren't available on the Pathfinder of similar vintage.
Downsides:
It has navigation. The navigation system runs on CDs and you need a different CD for different US regions. The HVAC controls are built into navigation screen so you can't get rid of it.
It has a stupid Infiniti analog clock in the spot where the Pathfinder has a perfectly readable digital clock.
The driver's seat heater switch light wasn't coming on when I checked it out last week. Dunno if the light's busted or the heater. I didn't sit in it long enough to see if the heater would warm up. The guy selling it said they can fix it, supposedly.
It may or may not have a spot of rust on the driver's front fender below the headlamp. This picture is on the dealer's website (the one I posted above is on Craigslist) and you can just make out the rust spot.
BUT I'm not sure if it's the same truck as the one on Craigslist. The color seems a little different (but that could be the lighting) and the one on Craigslist has window visors which aren't on the one with the rust spot. Maybe they added the window visors after taking the pics on their site, maybe it's a pic of a different truck, I dunno. I'll have to double check. This is the same angle from their CL post:
The color...I think it's different. But it's close enough in the different photo sets I'm not sure. I don't see a rust spot in this pic but it's fuzzier. I do remember the truck I looked at definitely had the window visors. Anyway, I'll figure it out when I go see it.
So, IF I like driving the QX4, and I can flip my Grand Cherokee in a quick sale for enough money, and I can get a decent enough price on the QX4, I might be going for it.

That generation of the Pathfinder was pretty stout, you should be in great shape.

young bastards
learn how to read an analog clock
and get off my lawn after you figure out what time it is!

I can tell time on an analog clock, including the one on my wrist right now, just fine.
The QX4's clock still looks out of place to me.

Haha, it's quite large. but then again everything on that interior is gaudy to me so it fits right in! (sorry don't mean to be an ass, that wood color is killin me)
Have you thought about an S10 Blazer or one of it's variants? good 4x4 and solid 4.3L V6

Unless they took the sunroof deflector off the green one, those are two different QX4s so I think you're good on the rust. I've got a 99 Pathy with the 3.3 4x4 and 5speed. I got an awesome deal from a friend of mine all it needed was tires and shocks. Not sure what brand they use on these infinitis but the change from OEM to KYB gas shocks/struts is widely recommended.

The one I'm looking at has the tan interior, which has a more normal wood color, like this:

Yeah I guess it's a rinky dink little used car dealer that has tried to sell more than one Infiniti QX4, and has pictures of the last one they had on their website.

FWIW, I bought an '03 Pathfinder 4x4 with 150k miles for $5300 about a month ago, and I'm very happy with it so far. Seems very solid, and my research before buying it showed it to be a very reliable year/model. I put on some Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs, as I plan to do some light off-roading with it as well.

I see.
Well, the GMC has a nice interior (and a digital clock that you like):
heres a 2001:
I'm only recommending these because I know they are cheap and the engines are rock solid.

Yeah, that looks terrible.
The GMT330 SUVs are a bit too small for what I want. I don't want something huge, but they're too cramped.
The GMT360s are the right size, but the only ones with an interior I'd live with are the Envoy and 9-7x. Trailblazer, Bravada & Rainier are garbage, particularly the Trailblazer.
There aren't really many Envoys or 9-7xes near me at the moment.

Well, the pic I found was horrendous lol I wanted one that showed it didn't have an analog clock or a nav screen.
I get it if it's a bit small though. I had a Chevy Blazer from 04 that was great inside
